Hanger 9 Texan, replacement retracts

Hi there,

I flew my Texan today for her maiden. Looked great, took off nice, and flew like it was on rails. When it came time for the landing, I started slowing her down.. Overshot my landing and went for a go around. Dead stick as soon as I throttled up, so I decided to make my landing any way. Flared a bit to soon, and it dropped from about 4 feet, straight onto the mains. This caused both of them to shatter the plastic parts. I know four feet is kinda high for a fall, but should they have exploded?

Anyhoo, I had already done the Robart strut mod, but now I'm wondering of the whole Robart retract assembly would fit? As anyone used any other retracts on this bird?

Thank you!

Has anyone ever heard of, or tried the Frank Tiano all metal retracts? I saw an ad in RC Flyer for them...

Thank you,

You might want to check out [link=http://www.retracts.com/]Spring Air[/link]. Most, if not all, of their retracts are all metal.
