RE: 30% Ultimate
Hey Skip, if you're talking about the Goldberg 30%, I've been flying mine for a month or so. I started with a Fox 4.2 in mine and have since replaced it with a Brison 4.2 which has a MUCH smoother idle. The plane is a FINE quality ARF, although there is some re-engineering needed to get more throw on the elevators. I also had a few minor issues like a missing axle and mis-labeled interplane struts, but overall, it is a great kit. I'm still not quite sure it's worth $850, but it is a great building and flying plane either way. The flight characteristics are just like you'd expect if you've flown the smaller Dave Patrick Ultimate or even the small Goldberg model. This one flies just the same, only BIGGER! The roll rate is out of this world, and I was surprised how light the plane came out. The wing loading is so low that the plane just floats forever and is actually fairly hard to slow down for landing--it just wants to keep flying! The Brison 4.2 gives great performance with strong vertical and it will pull it all the way through a knife-edge loop as well. I love the plane, but I just think the selling price is a bit high for this size aircraft. Let me know if you have any questions!

RE: 30% Ultimate
I haven't had a chance to fly mine yet (or, well, build it!), but I am looking forward to it. I took a few pictures of the kit if you are interested:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_15...tm.htm#1607707 The price is a bit high, but remember that this does include all hardware (as opposed to most 30% ARF's that don't). Ron: I would love to see the pictures of the modifications that you made to the horizontal-stab. |

RE: 30% Ultimate
Thanks for the reply. I think it is a bit high as ARF's go too but a few more accolades like this and I am going to bite the bullet and buy one. I have a Brison 4.2 to power it with. Thanks, Sklip

RE: 30% Ultimate
Skip,
I am going to put a ZDZ 80 in mine. I looked at the Brison 4.2 and the power to weight ratio and decided on the ZDZ. Truth be told, I have been accused of over-powering in the past, however, I think this move is a good one. Just my opinion, Ken |

This is one I assembled for a buddy and I can tell you it is a great flying airplane. It has a 3w-75 for power and is simply a joy to fly.

RE: 30% Ultimate
apilot,
Lookin' good! I looked at the 3W-85t for mine, couldn't find a 75, for the price difference I could get most of my servos. Ken |
RE: 30% Ultimate
apilot,
I meant the 3W-85B2. Now I find out about Cactus Aviation, they have the 75 on their website. I still think the ZDZ is a good choice, I hope I'm right. Ken |
