Vectorflight 66" Edge
Got my Edge in about 3 weeks. Not a bad wait. Airplane looks great , but assembly instructions are not for a first timer. Wheel pants are a little iffy but all else is a little different but good. Flew it first time Sunday and it is a sweet flyer. Cg 4" with throws as recommended and it handled like on a rail. Roll and a loop in the first 30 seconds. Stall charactoristics are fantastic with little or no wing drop. Had a flame out on third flight that occured in a bad position and would of stalled and spun in most any of my other models. Got it back on our little stip without a scratch.
Vertical out of sight with a Webra 75. Can't wait to get the bugs out of my engine so it will run dependably. Then I can really find out how she flies. One of my nicest right out of the box. Don |
RE: Vectorflight 66" Edge
Very cool. Congrats on your maiden! I have the VF Edge nib sitting in the garage, but just haven't got to it yet. I'm planning to use a Saito 100 with it, maybe a 120 if it will handle the weight.
How many hours did it take you to build? |
RE: Vectorflight 66" Edge
I don't keep track of my time, but I would guess about 20 hours. I added some black pen stripping which took some additional time. It's a good looking plane that flys real well. Have fun assembling and then enjoy flyiing.

hi don.
i have an edge sitting in box .looking forward to building it soom .i've looked the plane over quite well and construction and covering seems to be top rate.I wish more people would post comments about the vf edge but seems the extra is more popular. ken |
RE: Vectorflight 66" Edge
Thanks for the build time info Don.
I'm kinda torn about what engine to use - Saito 100 or 120? The 120 is about five ounces heavier so I don't know if the plane will balance that out OK. I'm planning to use a 5 cell AA pack and can move that pretty far back, but I could go to sub-C if I had too. I guess I can try the 100 first since I already have one that I was going to use in my Lancair. Me thinks the Edge has jumped in front of the Lancair for building order, so I might as well use it. It's a GK version too. :) |

Hi Kroflite,
There are many posts on the Vector Edge in several forums. Try a search using "Vectorflight Edge". |
RE: Vectorflight 66" Edge
I have a Magnum 1.20 on mine, and with a 5 cell pack in the back of the belly opening, it balances perfect! GREAT planes. For some reason, the Edge is much more forgiving to stalls, than the Extra. :D
