GSP 65" Extra

Hey Guys I picked up the GSP 65" (90 size) Extra at Toledo and I'll let you know how the assembly and flying go.

RE: GSP 65" Extra

I started assembling the wing tonight and came across 2 things that were a real pain, #1 the servo wire exit hole is not cut into the top of the wing so you have to do it yourself. #2 there is no pull wire to pull the servo wire through the wing and it's not a straight shot for the wire, it took awhile to fish the wire through. The wing halves did fit together perfectly. that's it for now

HI

rc_sport-RCU, how did you manage to pull the servo wire through the wing? Im trying since 1 hour now and im about to lose nerves. Any hint would be appreciated.

RE: GSP 65" Extra

Kristex, I used a real fine piece of piano wire to fish it through. It was a real pain. I made the maiden flight today and I'm pretty happy. I equipped mine with a Saito 100 and it seemed to be plenty of power. The plane does an awesome flat spin. The engine has had only about 6 tanks through it so it still needs some breaking in and tweaking. This could be a fun plane.

Thanks, finally got it done. Pretty looking plane, will fly it tomorrow using an OS 1.20 FS
Does the CG like said in the manual fit ?

RE: GSP 65" Extra

With my Saito 100 I had to add quite a bit of lead to the tail, with that 120 you'll need to add a ton. I located my CG right in the middle of the range. I stuffed the lead in area right behind the rudder servo. One warning, the elevators are small but very effective. With the 100 in had unlimited vertical.

I've got mine yesterday. So long everything looks very fine!
rc_sport-RCU, how does it fly? Any bad habbits? Low speed behaviour?

RE: GSP 65" Extra

The only bad habit I have found is that it will snap if you slow down to much for landing but all planes will do that

They're not drawn, they are laser cut clean through. I filled them in with epoxy so fuel wouldn't leak through into the fuse.

On the china models plane I'm working on now the manual gives you measurements where to cut the exit holes for the servo leads. The wing is covered in transparent covering so you just watch the string fall through

Be careful with the wheel-shoes. If you "land" bad and manage to break the gear, the shoes will probably destroy the wing (happend to me [:o])

A query guys ... I love the sound of a 2C engine with a pitts muffler, what size would you say for this plane? A 108 perhaps? Thanks.

I think something in the 65' to 72' range is most manageable ... thanks!

RE: GSP 65" Extra

graham,

how much of weight did you add to the tail to balance that thing?
Im using same engine like yours and i had to put more than 1/2 lbs to the tail. The plane didnt fly well at all with this configuration and and the given CG from the manual seems to be wrong (extremely tail heavy)
