RE: ARF's considered which category

Scale is a term for any model that is designed to replicate a full size aircraft. There are no full scale "Sumthin Extras" flying around, but there are a lot of Extras.
Well I guess it could fall in to a the "stand waaaay off scale" catagory :D.

Don't know where that story came from, but it ain't so. The Spacewalker was a full scale kit plane and Hazel Sig built one for her own use. It flew well, so she decided to produce the 1/3 scale kit.

RE: ARF's considered which category

The something extra is a sport plane yes, and it looks similar to an Extra but with larger control surfaces to appeal to 3d pilots... My buddy has one and it flies well... The space walker from what I heard started as a model and they blew up the plans to make a full scale plane... I just watched RC Top Gun in FL on TV (DIY channel) and Chris Chianelli interviewed a guy who told the story... I really don't know either way... But if it was a full size plane first then they lied on National TV... I'll still sleep either way... Chris Chianelli can be kind of :D at times but oh well he got RC on national TV I'll give him that...

WHAT!!! THEY LIED ON NATIONAL TV!?! How can that be? Let's sue the b*****ds.

Chianelli is not responsible for what his interviewee says. He probably just wanted to let the guy dig himself a nice deep hole, in front of the world.

RE: ARF's considered which category

maybe so... Heck he had me going then I guess... The Sig site does support what you say...

This 1/3-scale model of Jesse's SPACEWALKER retains all of the charm of his beautiful homebuilt. Plans for the full-size aircraft were scaled down for the ultimate in scale accuracy. Construction is easy with pre-formed fiberglass parts and traditional balsa and plywood construction.

Oh well someone punch Chianelli in the face :D OK I'll do it..
