Sig CAP 231EX throws

OK guys I just got my Sig CAP together and need to ask a couple of questions before the maiden.

Control throws, are the throws that are recommended in the book pretty close or are they too soft/touchy?

My balance came out at 4.25" and to get it to the 4" mark I'm going to have to put 7 more ounces on the nose. Adding the extra weight is something I really don't want to to since I already have 2 pretty big packs in the nose. What is the consensus, will it fly ok at 4.25" or be too touchy here?

TIA

go with 1/2" to 9/16" on the elevator that is the only concern on the cap. that is a good balance point to run on your 1st flight of the sig cap that is a great kit i had 2 of them (RIP)....she is stable at 4-4.5 inches with those elevator throws i mentioned....

Hey Gerald!

I recall you saying the Cap will 3D but mine seems sorta heavy, haven't weighed it yet though. Does the plane do all the 3D stuff or does it only excell at a few of the maneuvers like many planes do these days?

I'll probably be doing more IMAC type flying with mine but it would be nise to have an idea of what it's capapble of.

Appreciate the help!

3d's well in all aspects very light kit should be 11lbs at the heavyest....

Thanks,

Just threw it on a postal scale, not very accurate but the best I can come up with right now, and it's about 11.75 ibs.

The OS 1.60 should have no trouble with it at all at that weight. Running hitec 5645 digi's all around with a 5945 on the rudder and all of it on 6 volts. Did ALL of the suggested mods talked about here on RCU and it looks pretty good.

Looking forward to the maiden, hopefully tomorrow if the weather holds up.

Well the maiden went very well today. The 1.60 fired right up and pulls like a clydsdale with a Pro Zinger 18 x 6 prop. This plane does not want for ANY more power IMO the 1.60 is perfect for it and mine is still set overly rich.

Krayzc the advice on the elevator throw was right on the money. This plane settles in like a big baby on landing approaches. With the digitals all around it flies smooth as glass, very nice.

I'm stoked, now if the weather would straighten itself out everything would be perfect.

Thanks again!

Man i am glad you were :D @ the field today. I truly enjoyed my cap. i have an OS-160 that is sitting in my grab pile. That motor on the cap is one sweet deal. i 2 went out to fly 2-day man that wind was just a slaping me.

Just couldn't wait to get that Fun 50 back in the air I'll bet!

Seems to me that Mr. Hunt spends MOST of his flying time in winds that would send most of us packing, even with the little planes!

Thanks again for the advice, this one is a real keeper.
