GP Pitts G45 or Brisson 3.2????
 

I have just started my Pitts and I am still trying to decide what engine to power it with. I have the following engines on the shelf to choose from: G45, G62, or a Brisson 3.2. I know there are a few out there powered by G62's, and I have read about the torque problems with the 62 and the 3.2. Those that are flying these engines, is the problem overcome by proper throttle management, is it worth trying, I am looking for any and all suggestions. I live in Utah so we are around 4500 ft., the more power the more vertical.

I am running a g-62 in mine, on takeoff the plane want's to torque to the left, i have learned to counter with a little right aileron. After in the air it is awesome, you must use good throttle managment. It will climb vertically out of sight, I couldn't imagine flying this plane with anything less. You will need to do some beefing up on the firewall the upper wing as per great planes tech note, I made some mods to the engine & only had to cut 1 small hole in the cowl for the sparkplug cap. i also installed tme smoke, looks great. Dry weight is 18#, full of fuel & smoke oil it weighs 21#, the g-62 with a 22x12 mejzlik prop pulls this plane very well, due to the low rpm vibrations of the g-62 you may want to install ch ignition. That is what i am doing to mine, once that is done I think I will have the baddest plane around. also i am changing the flying wires to 30# leader material from wally world with dubro rigging couplers & dubro locking clevises. IMHO the flying wires are much needed on this plane, especially on the tail surfaces as they are pretty weak. just my .02 cents worth

What I would do is see which engine instillation will allow you to balance the plane with the equipment installed to your liking.

hey all:
with g-62 & j&a peackeeper muffler all i did was install 2 reciever battery packs under cockpit, ballanced out perfectly
