Engine for GP Christen Eagle

I am looking to see what anyone is putting or has put into their Great Planes Christen Eagle for power. I am just starting to build it and have not made any decisions on the engine yet. I read a review in Model Airplane News and they used a Fuji 50cc engine and said it was a perfect match. I have not got into gas engines yet and I am thinking this maybe a godd plane to start with. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks to all.

Hi,

You certainly choose a great plane (pun intended) as all flight reports I have heard to date are very positive. I am going with the MVVS 58cc on mine, and from the other thread on this plane it seems that the 50cc is the most popular size

Hi!

I planning on purchasing a Christen Eagle as well and I've been asking about engines too. I'm hearing for weight and value, go with the DA-50. That puts the price tag up there though.

I priced out mine for $339 for the plane, $389 for the Fuji BT-64 (which I'm not happy with some of the problem starting reports) and I'm going with 3305 futaba servos. Don't know if that's a good combo but we'll see.

the Fuji weighs in at almost 5 lbs but the DA-50 is more expensive but lighter. If you're going for a weight savings then you have some expensive decisions to make.

I have the DA-50 in mine. Cant see the Fuji pushing it too well! It would do you all well to put the BME, DA or 3W 50 in it.
