World Models 80" Spitfire
 

Not much chatter about this on the warbirds forum, so I thought I'd ask over here. Anybody have one yet? Wondering about the quality of construction and the retracts.

I hear it is a great flying plane and well-built. The retracts that come with it are only going to work for the best pilot flying in optimal conditions with perfect landings every time. This is from info gathered on the forum.

To my eyes it doesn't even 'look' scale, so I know the real scale buffs have complaints with it's appearance. The fuse looks boxy to me.

I love spitfires and would snatch one up in a minute if it 'looked' scale to my newbie eyes. I like the GSP spit (appearance wise) better than this one.

By the time you get the thing completely built up you will have well-over $1200 in it -- and to me that is too much money for something that lacks so much in the looks department.

My opinion, of course. I know, I know. Opinions are like P-51 Mustangs...

hgiles, I agree with you I am a spitfire fanatic and most kits need alot of well....... readjusting to make them look realistic, might get a few bites with this comment!!

There are good scale drawings of A1 available from England -by Brian Taylor - 1985
This is the early one and it is really nicely designed- for 60-two stroker--

Dick, you hit the nail right on the head my 1/3 spit is from this brian taylor plan enlarged of course and it is worth getting a copy.
