H9 Cap 232 servos
 

Anyone putting together a h9 1/4 scale cap ? Well I'm trying one, so I'll be asking question every so often. Like this one, anyone got any suggestions on what size servos I should use for the ailerons the rudder and the ele. I'm using Futaba stuff in this plane. I've got a bunch of 3003s and 3004s but someone said there not big enough.

If you run a search on this plane you will find lots of information here at RCU, and most likely any question you may have will be answered. Your info on the servos is correct, I would not recommend anything less than 60oz for the ailerons and elevators and 100oz for the rudder and while opinions on servos will vary I don't think anyone will recommend 3003-3004. :)

RCDAVE, I'm building one of these planes and and I'm going to use Hitec Digitals on all the controls except throttle. This is probably "overkill" but I already had the servos from a past project, so I figured, why not. I sure would'nt use standard type servos though..............Jerry

I was going to use FMA 3601 coreless servos on the flying surfaces... I've decided to go with JR 8231 digitals all around (with a 531 BB servo on the throttle). Got a good deal on them in the swapshop, heigh-ho.

I am currently flying the Sig Cap. It is of course very similar in size and weight to the H9. I just thought I'd share an opinion on something else to consider in servo selection.

Torque is obviously very important, however, a lot of people (me included) sometimes overlook the other equally important characteristics of servos. I used Futaba 9402's all around in my Sig, and the results are fantastic. They center very well, matching surfaces (i.e. ele. halves, ails.) travel at pretty much the same rate, and the speed is great too. When I want surface movement, it happens RIGHT NOW. These things add up to more precise flying, and thus for me, more enjoyment.

Budget can be a concern. You could outfit a whole .40 size plane for the extra amount that good servos will cost over 3003's, but I know very few people who have just one plane, and IMHO it would be better to have one outstanding plane than 2 average ones.

Choose wisely, the aggravation you save could be your own. ;)
