Is it possible to convert this three bladed plane to a two bladed plane? If so, what are the pro's and con's?
Thanks. The local hobbie shop does not stock three blade props

That's the first thing I'd do is throw away that 3 blade prop and put an APC on it. Pros: Faster, pulls better. Cons: Not as quiet, harder to slow down. The 3 blade is terribly inefficient and will probably get you in trouble quicker than a good 2 blade. The 2 blade has the power to pull the plane out of a bad position quicker. My opinion.

The whole intent behind the 3 blade prop was to prevent a new student from getting into trouble quickly. Also, being a little short in the thrust department helps teach the student how to properly work all the controls, not just some of them. I've flown about 10 different Alpha Trainers with students, and all of them worked well in the areas they were designed for. If you have a need for something faster, get a different plane. You can always order the props from Horizon Hobby.

I'd start out with a Master Airscrew 10x6 then when you can fly pretty good put an APC on it of the same size. I buddy boxed my brother on his Alpha with the 3 blade prop and the plane is sluggish and responds like it is underpowered. An underpowered plane is hard to fly. The Evo engine has plenty of power for that plane if propped right. With the MAS prop it flew much better and when he moved up to the APC it was a different airplane. He had been flying solo for about a month before he put the APC on it. So order another 3 blade and fly with it a while then switch to the Master Airscrew you will see what I mean. I'd wait until I am pretty efficient at it before moving up to an APC.

Silversurfer is right about the 3 blade helping the student to not get in trouble quickly. With the 3 blade you'd better have an experienced pilot take off for you and get some altitude before switching it to the student. The lack of thrust can be a handful on the ground and those few feet after lifting off are critical.

I agree on the 10 X 6, but remember it IS a trainer and that's what it's made for. The three blade prop keeps your landing very under control. I have an Alpha 40 trainer and still

use the 3 blade prop, if only to show the gentle landing to others...

If you want extra blades you can order them on line cheep, or ask you LHS to order them and you can buy them from them...they SHOULD stock thier customers needs...

If you move up your plane will move quicker as well as have less time to make adjustments on landing.

You can convert the engine to two blade by removing the back thrust plate and using a stock size. This lets you use a Dubro spinner a a APC 10x7. You also must re-tune both the low and high needles. If you need 3 blade props check my web site. Dadstoysbg.com. Dennis

Thanks for all the input. I picked this thing up used and I don't have the paperwork. The guy I bought it from had crashed it and broke the wings, he had purchased new wings but never put them on, still new in the box. Anyway, he did pull the servo of the old set but not the little screw on clips that attach to the servo control rods? There are threaded rods attached to the arialons and little clips still on the old servo rods but I think something is missing from the wing side????? Something needs to thread on there, just not sure what? I gues my local hobbie shop could help tomorrow if nobody knows what i need.

Your missing the survo on the underside of the wing. It costs about 20 bucks for a standard one...of course you can always find

cheeper.

If you need pictures of what they are suppose to look like from different angles let me know.
