Phoenix Giles 202 Elevator
 

I'm just putting together a Phoenix Models Giles G-202 and was hoping someone who has this ARF can tell me if their elevator halves were joined together somehow or not? The two halves of mine were not joined in any way, nor was there a joiner in the box or any mention in the instructions.

I bent up a wire joiner, cut a trench for it in the bottoms of the elevator halves and epoxied it in. A little white Monokote to cover it up and I think it will be OK but it seems weird that they'd forget something like that!

I have the Phoenix Cap 232 and Giles 202. The elevators are not joined. On both planes the elevators, rudders and ailerons were already installed and pinned.

The elevator halves are controlled by the servo with "wire-wooden dowel push rod-split 40 size wire with metal clevises" to the underside of the elevators. Both planes fly fine with this setup.
For D/R.....I used 40 % on lower rates and 60 % on high. Works like a charm.

Thanks Kaz, boy do I feel dumb! I just went and looked at the plane and what's in the box again and sure enough, there is a wood pushrod set up to take two wires in one end. I assume that you just bend up the wires so that the two tines of the "fork" are the same distance apart as the holes in the rear fuselage and then just slide the pushrod straight back in the fuselage and hope that the wires find the holes? I wish I had asked before putting that stupid joiner in but it would have been nice for Phoenix to at least mention the way they intended it to be done. Thanks again for the help!

I also have a gile 202 and I just finished putting it together and went to put the canopy on and it has a bad wrinkle in it. Does anyone know where I could get another one?

KAZ hello i just finish my Giles 202 but I need some advice what can D/R did you put on the ailerons?????
I already put 40% and 60% on my elevator

I must of got the a different kit, newer or older,my instructions show only useing one control horn for the elevator(thats all that was in the kit for the elevator) and useing one wire
on the ends of the pushrod although it's cut for 2.
My elevator was pinned and joined with a rod so both halfs move at the same time.
For a 40 size plane I guess thats all ya need.:D

Lol I got the old instructions with the newer kit they show the spar is wood and give you the aluminum spar they realy need to put out some good instructions out with the plane I think that would make every one a bit happyer. I am just woundering if they have a pitch in the fire wall for the engine[&o]

A hint for getting the push rods in the holes. you can get some Oxygen tub that is for the nose and this will screw on to the end of your push rod. you just feed it from your back hole to the front of the plane and screw it on to the push rod then you just pull it threw and you have it in the holes with no problem.;)

Yea I am having the same problem with the old Instructions and thought I was going nuts. Has Any one had a problem with the throttle linkage, It seems where it should go throught the fire wall it will hit the gas tank and can't figure out how to reroute that? I am using a OS 46ax. Also I am installing a Fuel filler fitting, do I just mount the to the cowel and the fuel tank has three lines, which ones go where. Any help would be appreciated as the is only my 2nd build and the instructions are useless. Thanks

IRON6000,

I have the same issues with the throttle linkage and tank installation. Instructions "STINK". I don't think the instructions go with the Kit. I called Tower and all they did was give me a number of their supplier. I plan on calling them tomorrow.
