Elevator alignment error...how crucial??
I'm finishing up my Sig Extra 300XS and after I glued the elevators to the horizontal stab surfaces, I noticed that the outermost end of one of the elevators sits approx. 1mm lower than the mating horizontal tail surface. In other words, about an inch of the outer edge sits lower than the centerline of the horizontal tail surface. Will I still be able to fly the plane safely?? What will this do to the flight characteristics of the plane?? I'm so disappointed that I didn't check the alignment prior to epoxying...
Thanks[:o] |
RE: Elevator alignment error...how crucial??
1 mm? Might as well throw the plane out! No I'm just kidding. I've seen planes with issues far greater than that fly perfectly fine. I do many measurements using the "eyeball and thumb" method, and my planes fly fine. I'm sure it will not be an issue.
By the way, I just noted this was your first post. Welcome. I'm sure you'll get a lot of good info here. |
