Hitec Flash 5 for a SE

I posted this on the radio forum, didnt a any responce on it. What I'm wondering is, I'm thinking of purchasing my first computor radio. I'm looking hard at the Hitec Flash 5 for my Sig SE. Would this be a good choice, will the radio be capable to do everything the SE is designed to do? I'd like the fact I can program 5 different planes on it ,so all I will have to do is buy a flight pack with my next plane, as with any computor radio. do any of you guys own a Flash 5, or know anybody that does? If so whats your option on Hitec. Are they easy to program? Should I go with Hitec or spend alittle more cash and go for the Futaba 6XA? Thanks, JT

Hi, I don't have the flash 5 but I've had several Hitec radios. First was the Focus 4 then the Prism 7x now I currently use the Eclispe 7. The Flash 5 will be fine for the SE, but you will quickly out grow it. I have recommened to several people to get the Eclispe and none have been sorry. The Eclispe is very easy to program and with the spectra module you can fly any availible channel.

I've not had a Futaba radio so I can't comment on that. Buy what fits good in your hands go to the hobby shop and get the feel of the radio sometimes that's what sells. Good Luck with your purchase.

I too, own a Hitec Eclipse 7. And if I needed another radio right now? ... I'd buy another one. Sorry, no info on the Flash 5, but Hitec's flagship radio is awesome.

I have one.

I bought a Flash 5 for my first computer radio and I love it. I paid $168.00 for it with the servos, receiver and I feel it's a great investment. It is easy to program without so many switches to confuse me. I really like digital trims that don't change every time I bump something. I've used it on a 4 Star 60, Extra 300, Tiger 2 and now with a Super Sportster Senior. It's a great radio without breaking the budget.

JT:

I also fly the Prism and Eclipse but have trained a couple with
their new Flash 5x's. It is a good radio for the money. If you were
to stretch your budget to $275.00 then get the Eclipse with the
seven model memory with more sub-adjustments than the flash.

Hitec Flash 5 for a SE

...the Flash 5 does not have proportional flaperons - the Futaba 6XA does - a big bonus in my book and something i use all of the time - i would think you might want it on the Seg SE, too - the Flash 5 has only a 2-position switch for flaperons in glider/acro mode only...

...IMHO, Hitec software does not compare to Futaba's...this is the way i rate my computer radios...

1. Futaba 9C no. 1 by a landslide - again, the software has many needed adjustments that the Eclipse w/Spectra doesn't have 2. Hitec Eclipse w/Spectra 3. Futaba Super Seven (out of production) 4. Futaba 6XA 5. Hitec Prism 6. Hitec Flash 5
