another ustick 60 ARP (almost ready to program) 9cap question

Howdy,
i knew the 9 cap would be able to control all the stunts this plane has to offer but it seems there is little
help available. The futaba-rc faq left even the experienced pilots at the field puzzled.
The planes manual covers mostly JR and the futaba 9UA/s but not the 9 cap.
Harry Higley doesn't elaborate in his book and refers to the manual from hangar 9.
I mean, even if I read Harry's book all day long, i just don't get it.
But fortunately there is one member here who provides a good step by step post to
make it work and it works great, almost.
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_13...tm.htm#1399338

look for Henry_90lx's post.

M channels are setup same only that R flap is on 8 not on 5 and only single elevator.

i paste here and add my results in blue.
Up on the C switch was ailerons coupled to the elevator. not working

When you pull switch C down, full crow. Up on the outside ailerons, and full down on the flaps.
ok, but right flap doesn't go down

Switch H up gives full span ailerons. ok, but right flap goes down instead of up

Switch H down gives outer ailerons only. ok

Switch G up gives flaps coupled to the elevator ok, but right flap doesn't move

Switch C and G both up gives full span flapperons ok, but right flap doesn't move

also looking for a solution to have flaps only on a switch

if someone (maybe henry himself) can babysit me through the changes needed to fix my right flap
it would be sooooo nice. I tried to put it on channel 5 but to no avail.
I couldn't maiden the plane this weekend because i didn't get the programming right but plan to do so next weekend.

thanks, pat

GO to the FUTABA website. all of the actual keystrokes are listed to program yuor plane.I had the same problem we i was setting my u.s. up.[sm=drowning.gif]

RE: another ustick 60 ARP (almost ready to program) 9cap question

Oh well,
I changed channel setup now again according to the given specs.
got crow working now by changing Pmix # 2 / rate from +100% to -100%
and Pmix #5 rate from +50%/+50% to -50%/-50%
took me 3 hours playing around to figure it out.
everything works now except when switching H up to have full span ailerons,
my right flap (channel 5) does nothing and just sits there.
another 2 hours of playing didn't yield any changes to that flap.
I begin to hate that flap. I mean, all i want it to do is to move in conjunction with the
left flap. is that too much to ask for? that flap doesn't care, it just sits there doing nothing and I'm
working, it just ignores me and has a good time doing nothing.
I talked to it nicely and explained my situation, that we are going to fly on the weekend and have
a great time blablabla but it just doesn't care.
I have enough, if i switch on my TX one more time and that flap doesn't want to move
I'm gonna rip it right out of the wing, and kill it until it is DEAD!

I put my money on you swinging the Tx around by the antenna and smacking it on a wall. Its's hugely satisfying for about three seconds - then the remorse sets in...

been there...

done that...

Oh Cr@p!

mix the right flap to channel 1 with channel 1 as the master, mix is 100%, trim mixed and assigned to switch H in up position, that should fix it, when doing the mix for full length aileron, you have to mix each channel individualy with channel 1 as the master, dont forget to turn trim mixing on. This is how I set up my US.

Works fine on my JR 642...........;)

:D
Lmao, a frustrated rc-pilot smacking his transmitter around holding it by the antenna.
I get the picture,
cooled down now and give Terry's suggestion a try.
Mick, want to share your story of frustration?

[>:] I'll maiden it tomorow, with or without fullspan ailerons.
Anyone interrested in parts ?

RE: another ustick 60 ARP (almost ready to program) 9cap question

Yeah: I'll share it - just getting another plane ready for Sunday. I'll come back with all the stuff when I've had a few hours of stress relief down at the flying field.

Very therapeutic it is too... Allegedly.

Except for... New model: new engine: running-in while flying: flame-outs: Oh cr@p, glass fibre the U/C in for next week...

Not that I'm a pessimist - more a realist....

I'll keep in touch.

Oh yeah - It's my first four-stroke. After 35 years of being more than happy with 2c I thought I'd better go with the flow.

:D
The plane maidened successfully today.
We never got the mixing right, even after 2 hours trying to fix with my instructor and 2 other 9cap familiar users we agreed
to just leave it, turn off the mixes and go flying to get me some stick time and a feel for the plane.
only used full span ailerons, no flap no crow.
wow ! what a beast that saito 100 is. i was holding the fuse and wing when the instructor started up and
I could feel those violent explosions of the engine going through my hands.
Even without flaps the plane went straight up within a couple of feet . and this at the beginning of the
engine's break in. Flying was really something else than my good ol'e trainer and a lot of fun.
It's not a very fast plane but the saito pulls the plane around with authority.
This is definately a nice second plane and keeps you very busy concentrating on your flying skills you've
developed with a trainer.
I was happy today.
Now i think it's much more important to practice flying and get used to the engine's power instead of
worrying about the mixing, but it would be nice to have them working.
I guess there is no other choice than going to a glider 2 flap setup and kiss the throttle cut bye bye.
happy landings.
pat
