Cap 232
Hey everyone!
I was wondering if anyone on here has the hangar 9 .40 cap 232. I bought mine 2 years ago and need some guidence. I bought the airplane two years ago as a second airplane! What a disaster! To make a long story short I scraped the project. Does anyone have any pictures on set-up and flying. I know my O.S .70 w/ perry pump wont fit on my mount so have to get a new one. I dont have the manual anymore so what are the throws, CG, battery placement, Thrust line, Tank size, servo size, Flight characteristics with this engine, where to put the pump, does it TR w/ this engine, expected weight- that kind of stuff and anything else you can think off. Im imploring everyone, I really need this info and or pictures and videos! |

RE: Cap 232
Any weight on the nose? From what i heard this is more of a .60 sized plane!
|
RE: Cap 232
With a 46xls magnum, I have about an ounce of weight on the motor mount to get the balance where the plane flies nicely. On a low wing airplane you would check the balance with it upside down. I use standard BB servos, and used Dave Brown pushrods to replace the brittle wood rods that came with my Cap. The wire that comes with it was almost impossible to bend into a z so I settle on a 90 with nylon keepers on the servo end. I used Dubro clevises for 2mm wire for extra security- I don't trust Chinese plastic. The .70 fourstroke should give good performance, but don't expect to be able to torque roll...;)

RE: Cap 232
So your saying even with cg aft i will not get it to tourque roll! I can get ahold of a .91 four stroke, will that be too much power! What aboyt wing loading!
|
RE: Cap 232
help i still need more info and pics
|
RE: Cap 232
A 91 four stroke would be awesome on this size plane!
Throttle control would become mandatory, especially on takeoff. Start with the CG at the forward position and work your way back slowly or it will snap on you and that will be that. good luck. |
RE: Cap 232
i did not have to add any weight with a OS 46 AX it was right on first flight was today it neede4d no trim adjustments and flew great however the thing snaps on full elevatot at 1" and i had a misshap i did a slow loop and stalled the wing at the top of the loop it needed more airspeed on the down leg i was at the end of the runway and i wanted to pull out and see it glide in nice over the fiels as it did in the last 2 flights a little wind gust and to much elevator and not enough speed it snaped 2 time 2 mistakes high so picks are a little uggly right now what did you need for info? speed is your friend elevator is your enemy lol man high speed snaps where a blur you pull fill stick at an inch and theis will snap 2 times and be straight and level again before you know what happened lol what a plane even though the fuse id in 2 I like it i purchased it just for this purpose to teach me what not to do with a hot plane

RE: Cap 232
Did you try calling Horizon for a replacement manual ?
|
RE: Cap 232
that is a good idea anyone know offhand what is recomended cg
|
RE: Cap 232
Guys I am sol. I cant get a IM. Seems this little cap is dicontinued and they dont have them on the website nor when i called them!
|
RE: Cap 232
Does anyone have the sweet spot cg with this engine!
|
RE: Cap 232
I had one with a .46. Flew it around pretty good but it definitely could've used a .60ish motor. It did look really nice in the air, and I liked the way it rolled. I think my fav maneuver was pulling out of level high speed and doing several rolls on an upline before the engine ran out of steam.
It was snap happy with any kind of significant elevator input. I figured I'd get rid of it before I snapped it into the ground, and I sold it on Ebay. |
