RE: Modeltech Magic Extra 300L Throws & CG
test flying are:
ailerons 5/8" up and down elevator 3/4" up and down rudder 1-5/8" left and right aerobatic flying are: ailerons 1" up and down elevator 1-5/8" up and down rudder 1-3/4" left and right The manual says not to increase the throws anymore than that unless you are a very proficient flyer. Let me know how it goes since you'll be flying a while before mine is airborne.. hope this helps. Randall |

Thanks, this information will be a great help. What does the manual say about CG point?
I just obtained a fully built Magic Extra, minus the reciever. If I can get it set up I'll give it a try this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks again. Woofffman |

3 to 3-3/4 back from the leading edge of the wing at the fuselage sides with the tank empty. what kind of engine and servos
you going to use? they say for test flying to start in the middle of the c.g. range. i fixing to post a question an see if anyone has any suggestions of thing to improve on while building this plane. it seems there are alot of people that have the plane and they either hate it or love it. they say its weak in front of and behind the wing... guess we'll see. |

Should you balance this low wing model upside down?
Presently, there is a OS 46 SF engine and Futaba FP-S148 servos in the plane. Former Owner is a good friend who thinning his hanger. He claims it is a blast to fly. Time will tell. Woofffman |

RE: Modeltech Magic Extra 300L Throws & CG
Many threads here have questioned the manual's recommended cg. I have the cg of my Magic Extra at 4" from leading edge and it flies great. Very stable and nimble. Battery is as far forward as it will go (just behind the fuel tank) and no weight added.

Mine is at 4.25 inches. I've heard people go as far back as 4 7/8.

Lol. I just checked my CG and its at 4 5/8 inches. Fly's great, lands at a slow walking pace. All throws are maxed.
