GP Patty Wagstaff. what engine for 3D
Hey Everone,
I am interested in buying Patty, and have done my best to read through all the links and new threads and did a search but What size of engine will make the plane have enough power to perform 3D but yet still have ample power left to go up from there? thanks in advance Dan |

Any small block 50cc gas. ("Small block" means ~3 lbs.)

Welcome to the Forum. There is an awesome thread that covers the Patty from head to tow...imagine the real Patty from head to tow :D
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/GP_P...1027454/tm.htm There are a lot of engines that work on this ARF. Here is a list of good ones. 3W 40,50cc, FPE 2.4,3.2. DA-50, Brison 2.4,3.2, ZDZ 40,50. BME-50. I'd go with DA-50. The ZDZ 40 has a lot of power for a 40cc. I agree with the above post, 50cc and light. Most people's Pattys are coming in around the 16-17 lb range so a 50cc would be best for 3D...IMO |

:D Thanks for the reply. The two guys I know in our group have the fuji 50 and it won't hang on the prop. I will also research the link you guys have provided..
again ... many thanks |

Here is an option. F.P.E. 3.2 (52cc) 24lbs thrust with a 22x10 Bolly at 6300 RPM. On a plane that weighs 17lbs or less, it will 3D. I live it.

I just bought a fpe 3.2 tonight and am going to put it on my extra 300 (not a patty wagstaff) any suggestions??

Good choice in my opinion. Go with a Bison pitts style muffler and a 22X10 prop and it will be the most quiet gas engine at your site and still give you 3D type pulling power if you can keep it at or under 17lbs. Reg. gas and MC1 by Belray after break-in will yeald many seasons of service. Many use Amsoil with good results but i had F.P.E. themselves tell me that the Belray product is better.

I'd go with the DA 100.. A little hard to balance but it'd sure pull out of a hover....

Com'on! A DA100? Please, a simple jetcat P120 should do the job! LOL!!!

Either one will do I think. Just watch that right thrust... You'll be doing knife edge loops at two clicks of throttle.

I think the P factor is pretty low on the 120.:D

Very Funny guys. Didnt know any of you were on the promotion board. I think sarge would need a leap in pay grade or a field commision to afford that!! Trust me the cost alone of my venture into giant scale and gas is enough to make me want to re up. Speaking of which, re enlistment finaly tells me that NOW 6th Ranger Batallion can take me. I had been bugging them for almost two years, but now that I only have a few months left do they care.
