GP Shoestring - Does it work with FIRE?

Has anyone installed a rear exhaust engine in a GP Shoestring ARF? I have an OS VF .61 in the drawer and am considering the Shoestring. Any ideas on this or alternative fast ARFs for this type of engine would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Harry
I have a Shoestring, and i think a rear exhaust would be almost impossible. The fuselage is a rib construction and you have to take everything apart and re build it and then cover
everything again. I don't think all that job is worth it.
BTW I use i ASP 61 2-stroke and i think that is to small. This plane should have some speed. A four stroke 100 do the work better.

Thanks Per - that pretty much confirms my fears, looking at the photos of the model.

Hi, name's Ken Wilson. Been flying one for 2yrs. now with the K & B 61 "Twist" head version w/pitts muffler. It is VERY fast, clocked at 120mph level with this engine. A matter of fact, it is faster than a friends GP Toni which is equipped with an OS 91 4s. I run it on 10percent OMEGA that I add 2 - 3 oz. of add'l castor (for insurance). So, IMHO, this plane will go like stink with a good 61 2s in the nose, will be lighter and will generally fly better.
