GP J3 Cub ARF Engine Mounting

I'm trying to assemble a Great PLanes 81" fabric covered ARF with a Saito .72. With the engine mount in the location per plans, the throttle arm will stick out above the cowl. As I looked at it, it appeared that if the carb were rotated 180 degrees it would solve all my problems, (put the throttle arm inside the cowl and the needle would point up.)
This is my first 4-stoke and I don't want to mess it up, is rotating the carb the proper procedure? Anyone else with a GP Cub and a .72 have any suggestions?

Thanks
Randy

Hey Randy, I'm right behind you. I just received mine a couple of days ago. I'll be installing a 61FS in mine. Any building advice you can share? Keep me posted. Good luck,

you can rotate the carb. All of my saitos have ended up with a rotated carb because of the installation

I installed a Saito .72 in mine inverted. I can't remember right off hand if I had to rotate the carb, but it's no big deal either way. I did this to keep from hacking up the side of my cowl.

I'm currently installing a Mag.61FS on mine and can't seem to get the muffler where I want it. Seems too short. Did you all use the template that's located on the last page of the manual? Please send help. Thanks.

Guys, if you mount the 4-stoke inverted, does the header/muffler protrude thru the side of the cowl? I downloaded the manual, and it shows a 4-stroke mounted @ 9 o'clock. UGH! I don't want to cut a hole in the cowl sides, only the bottom. I was thinking of using an O.S. .70. Thanks.

Yes, I have the muffler running out the side of the cowl. You kinda just have to start small on the muffler opening and go larger as needed to get a good fit.
