RE: satio 30 needs plane
My Saito .30 is in a Sig 1/6 Cub. 12/4 Zinger wood prop. I kept it light-- about 4 1/4 lbs.
This engine is quiet enough to fly in a park. Quieter than a geared electric, in my opinion. Got another .30 I'm gonna put in a 40" Adrian Page Gee Bee. |
RE: satio 30 needs plane
I have a Fat Free Taco (.25 size Fun Fly) with a Saito 40. The plane weighs 3.1 lbs. The Saito 40 is spinning a 12.25x3.75 giving the plane 6.3 lbs thrust, which is a little more than a 2:1 ratio.

If you are looking for a small throw in the trunk and fly type of plane, then look no further. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/upfi...77/Ay74404.jpg http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/upfi...77/Ki19441.jpg http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/upfi...77/Nl30112.jpg |
RE: satio 30 needs plane
How's the low speed handling and landing? Someone's looking for an economical .25 size kit for his second plane. Wondering if this would be a good choice.

ORIGINAL: piper_chuck How's the low speed handling and landing? Someone's looking for an economical .25 size kit for his second plane. Wondering if this would be a good choice. The plane actually does not glide well without the engine running (dead stick) so honestly, this is NOT a good 2nd plane for that very reason. Maybe a 3rd or 4th after certain skills are learned. Landings can be tricky simply because it is a .25 size fun fly. I normally land in a harrier which most beginners can't do. I also normally hand launch the plane also. If the new pilot is a true natural and can handle the plane, then go for it, but unfortunately most new pilots have not aquired the skills to fly this sort of plane right after a trainer. Again, if you are an experienced pilot, then the plane will do anything that you can think of. I am always doing waterfalls, roller coasters, High Alpha knife edges, hovers, torque rolls, blenders, flat spins, inverted flat spins, walls, parachutes, rolls, rolling circles, inverted flight, harrier and my personal favorite inverted harriers 1' from the turf... If you can think of it, the plane can do it with the skills there also. |
RE: satio 30 needs plane
would the saito 30 hover it at 3/4 or less power just as long as it could creep out of a hover its ok i can build lite, micro gear.

RE: satio 30 needs plane
Thanks for the feedback, I've not seen how he's doing with his first plane, so I'll just keep quiet about this one.

RE: satio 30 needs plane
I had a LT 25 with a 25 two stroke, it flew but thats about it. HOB mustang absolutely love it. In fact I flew the wing off it a high speed dive and turn. The mustang was built with no rudder movement and as a hand launch.

Guys, I went flying today with my Fat Free Taco I have been talking about and luckily I had my digital camera with me, so I made a couple of videos using my Digital camera to show off the plane to you. There is nothing like a video to back up what you have to say.
I had to convert the files to a smaller lower quality video, but you can still get the idea of how the plane flys and my style of flying. I surely hope you enjoy them. :) [link=http://home.jam.rr.com/accordexv6/FF%20Taco%202.rm]Fat Free Taco Video #1[/link] [link=http://home.jam.rr.com/accordexv6/FF%20Taco%20flight.rm]Fat Free Taco Video #2[/link] |
