GP Venus 40 Engine Thrust
I'm nearing completion on my Venus and was looking on the GP website at the tech data for the plane. The site specifies 3 degrees right thrust and 3 degrees up thrust (I guess I'm reading that right; it calls for -3 degrees down). Is this thrust built in to the firewall or does the motor mount and engine need to be shimmed. It's interesting that, with an instruction manual as good as GP has put together on this plane, that this aspect of building isn't mentioned. Has anyone else had issues with this or am I just being an anal-retentive engineer?

I have one that i put a os50sx on and flys perfect mounted right to the fire wall. no shims behined the motor mount and you will not have any [email protected]

The thrust is built into the firewall. To verify you can drill a flat plate
using a drill press to insure it is at right angles. Insert a 12 to 18 inch rod into the plate(snug fit please). Hold the plate against the fire wall with the rod passing into the fuselage. any angle built into the fire wall is readily apparent. |

I just flew mine for the first time with the 46FX. Great flyer. Thrust angle is built in. Good luck.

I flew mine for a long time bolted straight to the firewall...but I did recently add a few degrees of right thrust and the
uplines are now perfect. While it don't consider the Venus a hover machine the few degrees of right thrust seem to allow the aircraft to hold one longer before falling off. I have countless hours on mine and I'm thinking I'll get another one soon. xanaphyst |

I have had a Vensus for over a year now, put a OS 90 four stroke in it.
Without a doubt it is the fastest thing I have flown and flys truer than most of it same size range. I am now working on a Funtana 90 and hope to have it up soon. We bolted the engine onto the fire wall without any other adjustments. Does anyone else fly one with the 90 strapped on? |
