Goldberg Tiger 2

Hi, I would like to ask if the Goldberg Tiger 2 is a good choice for a second plane. Thanks for any input.

EXCELLENT choice! It's not only a good 2nd plane, but a good plane, period. Once you get more comfortable with it, convert it to a taildragger, move the CG back a bit, and max out the control throws, and it is a fantastic sport plane. I had one as a 2nd plane, and I still love flying it.

The Tiger II is one of my TOP choices for a second plane. Go 4 it!

Nice plane, just hope you dont get one of the lemon ARF's.

I put a Saito .72 on mine and that is more than enough motor. Make sure to use low rates at first otherwise it is very sensitive.

An os 46FX will provide plenty of power.

I have a Tiger 2 powered by an OS .46 AX. Flies great!!!! I did have to replace the nose gear as the one that came with the arf was fairly soft metal and tended to bend.

Hey, good info on the nose gear. How about the mains?

I ask because I am getting ready to run a twin experiment and I am using the Tiger 2 for the plane with 2 OS .46Ax's. Plenty of power, but somewhat heavier. I have some 3/16 wire that I thought about using. Good idea??

Thanks for your replies, guy. Is it easy transition from a first high wing trainer to goldberg tiger 2?

I have a CG Tiger II and it is a great plane fly's straight as an arrow. I went with the tail dragger and mounted my front wheels where they suggested. I did not have to add any weight at all to balance. Put in a 46FX with a APC 12 x 4 and it climbs up & up and added a lot to the plane. I had a 11 x 6 it gave me plenty of speed and loved to do rolls. It would be a great 2nd plane!

The Goldberg Tiger II is an outstanding airplane peroid only possibly seconded by the the Falcon 56. (1960 > 70 Vintage)

Powered with an O.S. 46 FX or AX it has plenty of power to do any manuver you wish.

HIGHLY recommend it. I prefer the taildragger version myself.

Dicky, you will find the transition as easy as pie! In fact, you will probably find the Tiger even easier to fly than your trainer, due to the fact that it doesn't have the same self-righting ability. It goes where you point it, and stays there till you change it - Just like an advanced pattern plane - yet it is very docile and easy to fly, while still maintaining the agility to do any trick in the book.

Thanks everybody for the feedback. I think I have a go for the tiger 2 for my 2nd plane. BTW, can you guys post some pictures of your tiger 2 finish if you have other color scheme than the yellow one?
