Tuning a TS91AR

So ive got a Sig 4*60 with a TS91AR that i havent flown for a while, and i need to tune it. Ive decided to take away the second valve and so im using 1 valve, and i would like to tune it up so i can have my plane ready by thanksgiving so i can go flying again.

What valve are you talking about? Can you show us a photo?

GT:

You are supposed to use one of those needle valves, not both. I'd recommend that you remove (or just bypass) the rear one.

The absolute best way to adjust the carb on a model engine is to find someone who knows how to do it and then watch and ask questions. It is not hard to do, but is very hard to explain.

If you can't find an experienced RC flyer to help you then carefully follow the instruction book.

Yeah, you can tell i bypassed the rear one. Thanks.
Thing is, on the manual it says things like "first tune the high speed valve, then fine tune the low speed valve".

Anyways, so how would i tune my airplane, i dont want dead stick landings. It says its should be fine at 1 and 3/4 but even at that it dies when i go full throttle.

RE: Tuning a TS91AR

The low speed needle is the screw in the center of the throttle arm on the side of the carburator opposite from the high speed needle.

Start with the high speed needle 2 1/2 turns out. Go to full throttle and turn the high speed needle in slowly until the engine runs smoothly. Then turn it back out until the engine just starts to slow down. Shut the engine off. Now screw the low speed needle in 1/4 turn and start the engine. Shut the engine off and turn the low speed needle in another 1/4 turn and restart the engine. Do this 1/4 turn at a time until the engine will no longer start, then turn it out 1/4 turn and you should be OK.

Make sure you have fresh fuel and a new glow plug before you do this. Also watch for bubbles in the fuel line. If you see bubbles, you have a fuel feed problem and you can not tune the engine until you eliminate them.
