Pull-Pull on Ultra Stick 20 Lite

I have installed a DU-BRO Heavy Duty Pull-Pull System (for 91 and up) on my new Ultra Stick 120 Lite. It won't quite return to nuteral. When you move the rudder in one direction it almost goes back to neutral, and the same thing happens the other direction. That is it almost returns to netural. Maybe someone has an idea. I'm using a Fautba 3010 higher torque servo.
Thanks'
Richard

RE: Pull-Pull on Ultra Stick 20 Lite

Richard,

Are the cables rubbing the fuselage anywhere in side. I converted my Aresti 40 to pull pull and had to end up crossing my cables to prevent any binding/rubbing. To ensure they didn't rub at the point where they crossed each other, I used ball links on the servo horn and installed one on top and the other one on the bottom of the horn. With proper tension, I have about 1/4" clearance between my two cable where they cross. I have had no problems with my setup and the rudder returns to nuetral every time it is deflected in either direction. Hope this helps.

Good luck and happy flying.

Thanks. The cables are free as they are external of the fuselage. Just charged the batery in case that was the problem. No dice.

Dunno anything about that servo but it sounds like it doesn't center correctly.. If you have any others laying around stick one of those on there and see if the rudder works correctly.. If it does... Then you need a new rudder servo

I figure this is not the problem, but I did find it on mine. I put the pull pull on my US Lite and on the counter balanced part of the rudder, there as a little bit of the covering dragging on the fin part. When the rudder returned to center, it was a little off center. I took a covering iron and re-ironed the covering on the underside of the rudder and the top of the fin. This cured the problem.

It could be that the 3010 Futaba servo is not the greatest for centering, do you have another model or brand servo you could try?

Thanks for the ideas guys. Tonight I'll look for covering drag and if I don't find that I'll try another servo.

Another possibility is that the distance between the cables at the servo arm and the distance between the cables at the control arm should be the same..

Old - You hit it right on the button. I used a longer arm, the longest that I could find, on the servo and put the rudder hookup as short as possible. The distance at the rudder is still a bit wider but the servo centers just fine now.
Thanks for the help
Richard
