Parkzone Cub Improvements?

i'm wondering if you can replace the stock 370 motor with something more powerful. if not, can you get a bit more speed by changing props? any ideas?

yup, shoulda went with the Super Decathlon. Comes with a secret new motor from PZ! Clocked it at 75 mph during a fly-by at a local park...might even be the park down the street from your house...but i aint giving away any secrets...New motor ripped the wing right off the plane, and it still kept going. Shoulda seen the landing...greased her right in!

Funny, I've been searching all over these forums for the same answeer your looking for! I found some prop ideas that supposedly help our planes a bit...the four bladed GWS P-51 prop...I'll e-mail you the forum replies that I copied....

Greetings,
The Cub and other Parkzone planes are fun the way they are....they werent really designed to do anything more than what they do, and that is why they dont have any "Hop-up" motors,or different props like the Eflite stuff does....
Fly it and enjoy it for what it is!
Have fun

RE: Parkzone Cub Improvements?

I have the cub,
and after i dorked it into the ground because of high wind busted up the front of the fuse and bent everything pretty good... I fixed the fuse and stripped out all the electronics. I now use my own servos and speed control... So i can use my good radio when flying it.
I have a good buddy who works at a machine shop and hes fixing up a little adapter plate so i can install the efite brushless to the plane. I did stuff the battery compartment with LIPO's to get some very long run times.

ONce i get my adapter plate back from the shop i will hopefully try to install the eflite brushless.. I will post my results onces installed.

RE: Parkzone Cub Improvements?

I just got a PZ cub last week.. and after having to let it sit on the table for a few days (that was agony) becuase of the weather.. I was able to get a flight in on Sunday... I wanted to just get familiar with it on my first flight... no fancy tricks or anything dangerous... just up around and down... I managed to pull it off without crashing and most of my landings were quite smooth. I have had experience with firebirds and commanders, but this thing is a totaly different animal... Today.. the weather was nice, though a bit cold, so I decided to get in another flight today, and 2nd flight out I was doing ROG takeoffs... loops... and even a barrel roll. Once again.. almost all perfect landings except once or twice it was less than picture pefect.. but still.. it came down on the wheels..

Anyway.. I really love my new cub...and in light of todays review of the decathalon I am glad I went with the cub. (besides.. I think it looks better anyway, plus I have a full scale Piper PA12) also I am looking forward to more upgrade threads.. cause I know that I will inevitably want to upgrade this cub

Ok.......I think I'm on to something. I have two J-3 cubs and I've been having some battery problems. The lack of power would give me only 2-3 min of flight time so I'm looking into a lithium battery. However I started looking into changing the prop. So I'm in the hobby shop and then........THERE IT IS......Its a prop from megatech 4-bladed propeller for a P51D Mustang so I asked about it . They said it would work on the J-3. So $5.20 later I had alot more POWER. I tested it with out the wing and it wanted to jump out of my hand and thats with my bad battery. If anyone has battery INFO Please let me know.
