Tiger II Tail Dragger Conversion
Hi All!! I have a Tiger II that was given to me slightly damaged. Now that I've repaired it I'd like to convert it to a tail dragger. Does anyone know how best to do this & what parts I'd need? Thanks!!

RE: Tiger II Tail Dragger Conversion
I converted one using the white landing gear (Du Bro, I think) mounted to the hardwood/ply plate that is just in front of the wing cutout area using 6/32 socket thead bolts & blindnuts. For the tailwheel I used the Sullivan, which has four mounting holes. I used a socket head bolt (4-40 I think) in the rear hole ( factory installed blind nut there), then drilled three other holes in the bottom of the fuse and used pan head screws to tap the holes. The screws were removed, a drop of ca inserted in each hole to harden the threads, then insert the screws again. Then, just install the spring that is used to drive the rudder and, viola! Done!
By the way, the Tiger II is a great choice to use when learning to fly a taildragger. Good Luck! |

Thanks Jake - I kinda thought that might be the way to go but it's good to check things out since I haven't been in the hobby for a while.

RE: Tiger II Tail Dragger Conversion
Make sure you sweep the gear back so the axles are even with the leading edge of the wing when the plane is level. If you put the wheels too far forward, it will be very squirelly on the ground.
