StarFire 40

Well today was the day that the engine finally was put in the starfire 40 and has a lot of power an MDS 48 2 stroke i should be able to do a lot of aerobatics and 3d stuff!!! i converted it in taildragger form it looks awesome like an extra 300!!!!!!! really cool i wish there a way to get the muffler in smaller form. i will post the flight characteristics as soon as this weekend!!!!

RE: StarFire 40

The Starfire is a fairly fast plane. I would say that you be looking at between 70-80 mph. think you can handle it??[8D]

hell yea ive been flying rc for 12 yrs now im a really good pilot can it be slowed down for normal flight like 40 or so? u know just putting around? its my second low wing and its a taildragger this time wich i prefer for this type of plane how ever the intructions call for a trigear that i dont care for looks really cool that way anyway oh ps i should be able to hover with the apc prop my friend gave me!!! man it pulls at least 6 lbs of thrust i tried to keep it back with one arm at full power and believe me this motor is screaming around10-12k rpm!!!!!!!!!

RE: StarFire 40

The plane will not do 70-80 mph unless you are hitting no less than 14,000-15,000 RPM on perhaps an 11x6 pitch prop. I think you will only do 65 mph (as your engine with the stock muffler is not going to turn more than 13,500 RPM) and that is fast enough. I am sure the MDS 48 will be able to give you good vertical. The plane flies very well and can come in easy on landings. Flare her and she will be great.

To 3D with this place is not what I would advise ... the plane is not that light for 3D and neither are the control surfaces that big.

it has a 11x6 in prop apc so when i took it out yesterday it sure looked like it was doing 90-100 easily i dont know what your talking about but im believining that speed

RE: StarFire 40

Dude ... calculations show that an 11x6 needs to turn to about 17K RPM to hit 100 mph. There is no way any 50 sized engine will hit such RPMs without any tuned pipe. Sorry ...

RE: StarFire 40

does anyone with a starfire 40 can send me an elevator stab, cowl, and possibly the turtledeck? if you dont want your entire airframe I WILL BUY IT PAYING SHIPMENT AS WELL just give me a reasonable price for it and i will be happy i just ran into a barbed wire fence and messed up the cowl and the elvetor just before messing up the fuselodge side if i cant get these parts i will do my best to repair it it flew very nice until it was having engine sputtering problems can you give me guidelines as how to remedy this? i was able to do a solid track knife edge awesome to see please e-mail me @ [email protected] or [email protected] e-mail me to those two and will contact you please help soon[:o]:D

P.S. if you are an airplane body part donar you are saving thousands of arf models a year!;):D
