Modeltech P51?

OK, I am seriously considering purchasing this plane.

What can you tell me about it? How about the retracts?

What scale is this thing around? I am figuring that it is around 1/9th scale.

Has anyone put scale wheels on this thing? The wheels that are on it look too small.

I was going to use my Magnum 61rfs for it. If anyone has any experience with this plane, please clue me into any pitfalls with it.

Thanks

Craig

RE: Modeltech P51?

The .46 size Modeltech P-51D is around 1/7.8 or close to 1/8th scale (just devide the wingspan of the real P-51D by the wingspan of this model).

The Magnum .61 will fly it just fine. I squeezed a Saito 72 four stroke in mine, and it flew OK. Looking back, I should have used a YS 63 four stroke in it.

The supplied retracts are flimsy, just like any other mechanical retracts. Main wheels are small. They should be around 3.5" in diameter to match the spinner diameter, but I don't think there is enough room in the wing for 3.5" wheels.
