EXTENDING WINGS WHAT WOULD IT DO??

I kinda had an odd brainstorm. What if I took my wings on any plane and extended them say about 1' on each side. I know it sounds stupid but I wonder what it would do. Balanced and all. Not cobled up but done right.

It will add more drag and increase addverse yaw. You will get more wing area and be able to fly slower. I would rather clip the wings and turn up the controll throws. Just think of all of the full scale J-3's and Taylorcrafts. There are STC's for clipping the wings not adding to them. On a J-3 they cut 40 in from the inside of each wing. That sure takes the float out of your landings.

If you are going to add to a wing, its standard practice to add one wing bay per side whcih is usually about 4". Trying to add less that will only add weight without any benefit of wing area to make it worthwhile. :D

The size of the tail surfaces required to make the airplane stable is directly related to the size of the wing. If you made the wing 25% larger, you would also have to make the tail surfaces 25% larger or face the prospect of an airplane that is marginally stable, at best.
