except for the two pictures with the kid in them, they look nice. Haw. Is that an ST 2300 on the nose? Bill. |
RE: Ultra Stick Pics!
Yup St 2300... Yeah Yeah I know I'm ugly...sheesh:D

RE: Ultra Stick Pics!
I know they weren't, but those pics look like they could have been taken anywhere in Nova Scotia. I just got a MVVS 1.60 gasser and pipe, considering a Ultra Stick Lite.

I have a big old good-looking Saito on my US 120, it's also the older (heavy) version. Flies very nicely. Ugly? I'll bet your mom appreciates tour looks whether anyone else does or not. Haw. You're not bad, you should see some of the moderators here if you want bad. Haw again. Picture is me, the "Stick" in the pkcture is a smaller one with a Magnum 1.08 engine. And one of the US too. Bill. |
RE: Ultra Stick Pics!
Don, That 1.6 would be great on the Ultra Stick Lite. Especially with the pipe.
Will, How does the older version fly? And you'd better hope non of the other mods are reading this, they'll have your badge:D |
RE: Ultra Stick Pics!
Ice:
The older US 120 is fully aerobatic, but it's not a 3D ship with its approximate three pound penalty compared with yours. There's another one here with an FA-180 on it, the light version, and tht one IS a rocket ship. Don't worry about the other mods taking me to task for the comments. Our meetings often turn into mutual bashing contests when we need to lighten up. It's all in good fun. "I know you need your beauty sleep sir, get a lot more and it may do some good," and similar comments. Keeps the pressure down. GrnBrt and I are regularly on each other, he says I needn't bother with beauty sleep since it is widely known it will do me no good at all. Haw. Bill. |

Here are a couple pictures of mine. I just finished it today and hopfully I will fly it sometime this week. The engine is a 3W-24 gasser. I recovered the plane with monocate because I didn't like the clear covering. Rick |
RE: Ultra Stick Pics!
Bill please don't post any more photos with you in them. Thank you.

RE: Ultra Stick Pics!
DON'T tell him were Wingina is. I am coming there this summer. I don't want to run into BILL there. That would be way too much ugly for one place.:D:D:D

RE: Ultra Stick Pics!
:)Hey iceman, I flew my Ultra Stick Lite yesterday. I hadn't flown it in a while and this was the first time since I put it on a diet and also the first flights of the year. I'd forgotten how fun this plane is. My new weight is 9lbs 3ozs with a YS110. I had unlimited vertical and I could do decent flat spins, inverted and upright, although not as flat as say a UCD or Funtana. Still a lot of fun to fly and soooooo... easy to land. What a great "do anything" plane. Handles the wind well and I was even doing some great hovers. I think I can trim another 5-6 ozs off with differnt tires and a couple of other items. Anyway, had a great time with it today.
Thanks, Barry |

RE: Ultra Stick Pics!
Hey Bill, do you think I'm really going to tell you where I live?? I don't think so!!
Just kiddn. Wingina is on state route 56 where it crosses the James river. I'm an hour and a half from Richmond, hour from Charlottesville, and an hour from Lynchburg,, hell, I'm an hour from everywhere. We have our own field where we do most of our flying, but we do belong to a club at Crew, VA which is near Blackstone, which is near Camp Picket which ain't near nothing. I had a old 120 like in your pic with a st 3000 which I changed out with a G26 gasser. I put it in the trees at the club and wing is still there with my HS 605s. I got a 120 Lite which I outfitted with Dubro HD and carbon fibre rods with titanium ends mounted the servos in tail, whole nine yards. In ten minutes it was in the trees and ruined. Built another same deal and RVator put it in the trees on second flight. Where did you live in VA and where do you live now? ORIGINAL: William Robison Suitcase: where is Wingina? RE: Ultra Stick Pics!
Hey Suitcase stop fooling around and get another airframe for your g-26, summertime is around the corner. Ha Ha.

RE: Ultra Stick Pics!
Suit:
From January 1946, when the USN had my dad take over training aids for the fifth Naval district, until 1998 when I bought a house in Maryland, I was mostly in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area. My Air Force time was chopped out of this, and when I was working as a field service rep for a European car maker I lived in Kentucky north of Lexington. A promotion from field service took me right back to the Norfolk area, to the regional office. One winter in Maryland was more than sufficient, I came down here.Mary Esther is next to Fort Walton Beach, about 50 miles east of Pensacola. I have no intention of ever going back north. Bill. |
RE: Ultra Stick Pics!
Well I'm originally from Portsmouth and was a member of the UA (pipefitters union) in Norfolk. I also lived north of Lexington KY,.(Harrison OH) lol and spent a couple years in south Florida myself Homestead AFB. Us old timers do get around!

Ella Fitzgerald was a Portsmouth girl, but Keely Smith was from Norfolk. The Statesmen quartet was also native to Norfolk.

RE: Ultra Stick Pics!
Wasn't Keely Smith married to Louis Prima? And they don't come any better than Ella. I didn't know they were from Norfolk and Portsmouth.

RE: Ultra Stick Pics!
Louis Prima was playing at the Peppermint Beach club, out on Atlantic Avenue in Virginia Beach. The girl who later became known as Keely Smith tried out with him there, that was the start of it. Yes, they later married, and divorced. Prima and Sam Butera became fixtures in Las Vegas, KS was with him for the first few years there. After their divorce KS went into semi-retirement, until his accident that put him in a coma for the rest of his life Prima had a succession of girl singers, without Smith he never had any more pop hits. Smith has come somewhat out of retirement, she has released several CDs in the last few years.

RE: Ultra Stick Pics!
My intentions are to be there in June. Unless gas gets expensive.:D:D My old motorhome gets 6 MPG and I am 1200 miles away.
Ron |
RE: Ultra Stick Pics!
What do you call expensive? I just bought 87 octane for $2.05 yesturday. I can remember flying a crosscountry with my friend in his RV-6 thinking $2.30 was high for 100LL avgas. Now it seems like a bargin.
