Ultra Stick 40 ARF

Is it best to change the fuel tank to a Dubro etc.? I have heard of the stock one splitting.Any other mods needed?Maybe nylon wing bolts to hold the landing gear on. Anyone no of another engine mount with the mounting holes?
Thanks, Jay

RE: Ultra Stick 40 ARF

Jaybo, for an engine mount I used a Dave Brown type. I had to install two different T nuts in the firewall but it was worth it. I didn't want to use the aluminum mount to put my O.S. 70 on. Also I just used the stock tank and haven't had any problems at all. As far as the nylon bolts on the landing gear, I've seen guys at our field have bad luck with them. They break off alright but the landing gear then tends to fly up through the wing or into the tail stabilizer. Mine are steel bolts and I haven't had any problems with them or the landing gear block

I haven't had any problems with my landing gear either. I did reinforce the landing gear block inside the fuselage a little. I added tri-stock and lots of epoxy.

I used the stock engine mount and haven't had problems, but if you don't want to use the Dave Brown mount that CeeGee mentioned, I'm sure you can find something that lines up with the existing holes in the firewall.

I used a Sullivan seamless fuel tank in my Ultra Stick....but it was pretty much personal preference, although I've heard about the stock tank splitting also. I've been putting the Sullivans in most of my planes for the last couple of years.
