Controller and Battery Question
Hello All,
I would like to know how long fully charged batteries will last after a full charge. I fully charged them on Monday of this week. Can I go ahead and fly or should I recharge them first? |
Controller and Battery Question
The typical NiCad batteries that come with most radio systems work quite well when fully charged the night before going out to fly. However, be aware that some can have a fairly high self discharge rate and even if the radio system was not used since it was last fully charged, if it has been several days since charging, you can still end up trying to fly with packs that are significantly below their full capacity. Though I have found some packs just seem to be worse about this than others, I always tell my students not to take the chance, and either charge a full evening before flying, or at least use an ESV at the field an if needed, a fast field charger to top the packs off.

Controller and Battery Question
Get a voltage monitor and then use it to tell how long your shelf life is. I can go about two weeks between charges and sometime I go longer than that. I monitor my batteries before and after each flight and make sure that I always have enough energy to fly for 20 minutes.
