What plane is this?
1 Attachment(s)
Hi, I just got this aircraft from a club member who said he has had it for 7 years or so. I don't know if it is an ARF. I am told it is an Extra. I don't know if it is a 330 or not. The wingspan is about 52 inches. The wings are foam with sheeting. Does anyone know?

RE: What plane is this?
It might be an Extra, but a 230 or 260 I'd guess? They had more of a shoulder mounted wing. The 300 and 330 wing is lower on the fuse.

RE: What plane is this?
Looks to me like an edge 540

RE: What plane is this?
Nah m8, the LE is swept, means it is an Extra, probably a 260. Didn't hobico make an ARF one a few years ago?
|
RE: What plane is this?
Im guessing an Extra 260, and I would also guess it to be an older discontinued ARF. I can make no guess as to who the manufacturer was though.

RE: What plane is this?
whatever kind of plane it is, it sure looks like fun!

RE: What plane is this?
i agree it sure looks like the EZ extra 260 Arf I had in the early 90's, but the color scheme was different on mine, don't know if they had other schemes or not. Plane was fun, but it was a little heavy I thought.

RE: What plane is this?
It's not the hobbico one, as that had crazy ABS mouldings and all sorts of crap all over it.
It's far too clean for the hobbico. |
RE: What plane is this?
This aircraft has an ABS cockpit and cowling. It appears to be wood other than that. The hobbico tail parts shown at tower for the Extra 300 .60 has the same color scheme. But as someone noted earlier, this wing is too high to baa 300. I am just about ready to mount the engine. My only problem is where to put the CG?

RE: What plane is this?
Measure from the leading edge back to the trailing edge. Then set your cg at 25% of that measurement back from the leading edge. You may want it just a tad nose heavy at that setting. Nose heavy Planes are much easier to control than a tail heavy one. That should get you close enough to do some test flying. Then you can tweak the cg based on how it flys. Sorry I don't know the exact C.G, but someone might show up in here yet that knows exactly what Plane it is, and where the cg should be.

RE: What plane is this?
The plane is not an Extra. It's an Edge 540. Check out the position of the wing on the centre-line. Extras have a lower wing.
I don't know who makes it from the paintwork. |
RE: What plane is this?
I can tell you exactly what it is its a hobbico 40 size Extra 300S. S stands for shoulder wing. I had one years ago so I know exactly what it is

RE: What plane is this?
The hobbico looks right. But unless they made a different version, This one is a clone. The Hobbico wing has dowls in the LE of the wing to mount it. This one has plywood extensions of the number one ribs. The Hobbico has more scale landing gear that is curled. This is a straight bend. This has a one piece cowl where as Hobbico has a three piece cowl. The hobboco has a balances rudder, and this one doesn't.
Did someone like global or WM make a knockoff? Bob |
