which engine

hello all and greetings from sunny Greece

i've palced an order from hobby-lobby last day for a [link=http://www.hobby-lobby.com/sukhoi-glow.htm]sukhoi su 31[/link] from graupner and now i have to decide between three engines

1) Thunder Tiger Pro 61 $ 99.99 (this is what hobby lobby gives with su-31)
2) Super Tigre G-61 ABC $ 99.99
3) O.S 61 FX $ 169.99 outssss

i've never had Thunder Tiger or O.S engines before but i have best words to say about Super Tigre GS-45 that i have on my trainer and still works great without any probs

what is your choice guys ?

*all prices are from TowerHobbies

Frankly go for the TT61Pro ... the ST is nice but not worth the hassle in getting right. I got really fed up of mine today, compared with the TT61 my G90 is a pain in the arse. Always lacking in the mid range ... transition is never silky smooth.

Tianci, be careful, the ST fans tend to complain when you say bad things about their beloved engines. ;)

Kom, TT makes nice engines, as does OS. ST engines are supposed to be nice, but I have also found them to be more trouble than engines from other brands. One other thought is that you might want to consider a 4 cycle instead of a 2 cycle.

RE: which engine

Piper ... come on ... there are so many instances of ST engines giving crappy transition, heck ... even Bax will be able to attest to that. He will tell you to rotate the spray bar. He says the engine is best when running at 12,000 RPM, of course, with light loading. Come on I was running my TT61 on a 12x8 and the transition was nice. I run an ST G90 on 12x8/13x6/14x6 ... its all the same ... lousy transition. Other than that the engine is nice but unfortunately not consistent. My friend's new G90 will 'pop' like an ABC when you turn it by hand! Mine is like there is almost no compression.

If you want a non screaming engine, go for the ST, they are cheap and good. Easy to start etc but just be patient with the tuning. Just get a TT61Pro, its easy to run.

The Thunder Tiger would be a fine choice!
