Great Planes Dazzler
I am getting ready to start building one of these. Do any of you guys have any tips or mods that you would do if you were to build another?

Put aluminum landing gear on it. The wire landing gear bends and changes the CG. Especially if you have big wheels for clearance for a 12.25" prop.

First, check the firewall. Myself and several other people's Dazzler ARF's have come rather poorly glued. Mine was only glued on one side.
Also, the standard gear is light and works well if you stiffen it up by soldering a wire across them about half way down. I have a picture of this somewhere around here... I also put some of the light foam 3 inch wheels on mine and they worked well. The CG listed for the plane is VERY conservative. You might want to eventually build a hatch behind the rear servos to move the battery. Be sure and use a lot of expo or dual rates (or both) and crank those rates as you get used to the plane. BTW, this a great airplane. I'd have another one (my died) if the wings where removable. It will roll VERY fast and has the tightest snap roll I've seen to date. It does tend to overrotate though on the snaps so be careful if you're doing them low... :D |

CAPtian232:
+reinfroce the area where the wood-screws screw for the servo hatch in the back part of the fuse. +if a kit, make the rudder an inch bigger, if ARF think about it, truth is, it needs bigger area. +recommended throws for elevator are conservative, go 1/2 in. more in both ( low & high) to start with. +save adding lead to the tail with a tune-pipe. +if ARF change the universal engine mount for a lite one. +if budget permited use mini servos, digital minis from hitec !! +lite 3" wheels! +if kit, use easy to see colors and radical differences between top & bottom. enjoy!!! |
