Has anyone tried one of the new ACE Cloud Dancer ARF'S?

I have seen the model and was very disappointed to see all the plastic IE: cowl and wheel pants.
Other models in the same price range now come with fiberglass cowl and wheel pants.
I think it is time for TTR to pay attention to what the competition is doing.

I had the 40 sized kit, not art, and with a ST51 is was a 100mph + airplane. Handled really nice. It also had a plastic cowl and pants, but we don't use pants on our grass field.

Cloud Dancer.. Got MINE!!!

Hi!! I've just got my Cloud Dancer it's nice, looks good and it's L I G H T (as in feather) very light construction I'm afraid with the Irvine .53 I intend to put on it it's gonna be real FAST!!! :D
Overall quality looks very good (I will have to learn to work with ultracote :(
I didn't like the plastic cowling either seems flimsy.. ther rest of the hardware looks good... we fly of a grass field, so I'll assemble ot ready for the retracts, but fornow I'm going to fly with fixed landing gear....
Will keep you posted
Patrick

I won one in a raffle! Didn't like the cowl either. Plastic so thin you can almost see thru it! Looks like it will disintegrate at 10 MPH! Everything else looks good to me. Great covering job. I suspect that one or two of the fiberglass companies will come up with a replacement cowl soon (if not already). Planning on putting an OS 50 on it.

So do both the .60 and .40 size have a plastic cowl. Hoping the .60 has fiberglass. Otherwise I may consider a WM Intruder. Anybody know of another 60 sized ARF pattern like plane in this price range?

Sorry Sport,

I have no answer, but you might want to start a new thread, so everyone can see your question. I'm sure you will be happy with the results.

A friend just tried the cloud dancer 40 this weekend. Flies pretty good, light, responsive, but the wing is vulnerable to tip stalls like the extra and cap. Beginners beware.

5 flights and the cowl is holding up so far.

Thanks for the tip, just curious which engine has your friend in his model?.
I'm finishing mine (will psot pictures soon) with an Irvine .53 on the nose

He is using an old GMS 47 and a 11x6 zinger (?). Kinda looked like it was near unlimited vertical with it. That 53 should be perfect.

( A plane that doubles as a helicopter and a rocket = perfect )

I just picked up my Cloud Dancer 60 and yes it does have ABS cowl, pants, servo hatches, and retract wheel wells :disappoin also didn't care for the all white plain wing and stab bottoms but this gives me some artistic license to dress up the bottoms ;)
Otherwise it seems to be built well and very light.
