replace CA hinges

How do I replace CA hinges? I just cut the hinge to take the rudder off. What should I do to replace them? Do I need to somehow take the old ones out or do I have to make new slots. Do I need any special tools or can I get away with just an Exacto Knife. I'm fixing a crash. This is that last thing I have to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thx.

Just leave the old ones and make slots next to where the old ones were..... and you wil be just fine

How do I make the slots (just with exacto knife)? How deep?

Sorry If I'm asking dumb questions but I've never done this before.

Yes use an x-acto knife. Measure half of the CA hinge and that how deep the slot should be.

It's not a dumb question at all. In fact ,, it's smart to ask before you go tearing into something you've never done before.[sm=thumbup.gif]

That is a great article that I've seen before.. although I didn't follow the remove the covering around the hinge advice on one plane although I did drill the hole... seemed fine but later (after a crash unrelated to elevator) I was able to pull the hinges right out easily... CA hadn't wicked to the back deep inside, it was clean and doing nothing!

ive done that a few times with success, all i did was clean out the old ca hinge witha a exacto by sliding the blade down on each side of each ca hinge a few times carfully and work it back and forth and they will come out pretty clean.

Good luck
