Rare Bear Engine Mounting

Just about to install the 150 Saito enverted when I discovered that the carb forces the engine to far head. I can swing the carb to the side but it puts the carb center too low. Any one else using the Saito 150 in this bird and if so what did you do to get the engine to sit far enough back to allow the spinner to line up where it should be in the opening.

I was thinking of cutting out the origional engine mount and putting a new one further back inside. Do-able I think but a lot of work.

...tooo much engine???!! Whatever.... I've got a ys 140 in mine.....If you put a 90 (as reccomended) you'ld be at WOT the whole time you flew just to keep it in the air....Engine weight is much better than lead!! and this is a fairly weighty beast for those little 63" wings!!

... I think some people in the original thread where cutting the firewall back to get propper allignment... What i did with the YS 140 (similar problem but as you know the carb can move) was to use a differnt mount (the stock mount that comes with the kit sticks a ways off the firw wall as it is) I used a Jtec snuff-vibe and ended up with plenty of room to move the engine on the mount rails and get it alligned well with the cowl.

Do yourself a favor if you haven't and read the main thread and do the mods (retract mounts and horiz. stab).....otherwise you'll be sorry

I have read the threads, frontwards and backwards, lol.. Just never seen anything to do with mounting the Saito. I can swing the carb 90 deg but I it has a velocity stack that would stick out of the side of the cowl. I tried a shorter mount but only gained 1/2" I need a good inch to make it look right. I guess I will cut out the firewall and put in a new one set back further. I can see this will probably cause problems with mounting the fuel tank now, lol.

Thanks,
Randy
