Extra 300/140 Engine?
 

Son has just bought one of these and is thinking of putting in a Super Tigre G2300 in it.

Thoughts please? He can't afford anything more expensive really, he can get this one for £128 but open to suggestions?

Uh,
First suggestion would be to be more specific. Particular mfg of Extra 300, weight , wingspan. With this info we could be more helpful.

Sorry! it's the Flair Extra G300S 72.5 inch wingspan

I'm not familiar with this plane but if it's going to weigh less than 14lbs it should fly ok. With a 72.5" W.S. it should be in the 12lb or less range.If it's in the 11 to 12 lb. range it should fly nice with the S.T. 2300. What is the recommended engine size for the plane? Do you have any links to see this plane?

That's a pretty nice looking Extra. From Kg to lbs it says a bit under 12lbs? If that's correct then I would think that the 2300 should fly it with some authority. It probably wouldn't be a 3D monster but It should still haul it around pretty good. Of course this is just my opinion but you are definetely in the recommended engine size. Good luck and post a picture of the completed plane when you can.

Okay ... one maiden at the field today. Had an MVVS 160 turning an APC 18x6W ... most of the times its only on 50% throttle, whilst running in. I think this plane is best with a 160 2C. I am sure the Moki turning a 18x6 or even an 18x8 should be okay. Friend says it comes in for landing a little fast bit very manageable, rate of descend is not too fast.
