The UNDERDOGS
 

The same questions seem to come up alot here in the RCU forums, like "What is a good second Plane?", or "What is the best Trainer?" or "What is good Plane for 3D?" And generally the same Planes are mentioned over and over in regards to each question. Everyone knows that the Sig Fourstar is a good second Plane. Everyone knows the Sig LT-40, or Hangar 9 Alpha is a good Trainer! Everyone knows that the Hangar 9 Funtana is a good 3D Machine! My question here is, don't you feel like some good Planes are often overlooked in some of these categories? For example, the Sig Mid-Star is often overlooked, and overshadowed by the 4 star, but IMO the Mid-Star would be a worthy option. How often do you read where someone recommends the Lanier Explorer as a good first Trainer, which I believe it probally is. The Planes I just stated are just merely examples, but surely you the reader of this post must feel like there are some real good flying airplanes that get overshadowed by other Planes in its same class. These overshadowed great flyers I would consider to be underdogs. Lets here what Planes you believe to be a real underdog!

I would recommend the Tower Hobbies Voyager over the Four Star as a second plane/first low winger. There are so many good trainers out there right now a few are bound to get overlooked. The ones that are advertised the most probably snag the most newcomers.

:)Two. The Sig Mayhem is an excellent 3D plane that I think is underrated. Also, although I don't have one, I think by all I can read that the Seagull Harrier 3D is underrated also. I think that's going to be my next purchase and maybe I could give some input first hand.
