Trying the GP Wagstaff Extra!!

After my total disaster with the DP Extra, I'm giving the GP Wagstaff Extra a try....reading lots of good info, EXCEPT "flight reports". ANY flight reports out there???

AND - Please post to this thread about the "wing tube" issue...I'd like to know just what my chances are.....

FINAL AND - If anyone has their "best CG" located, would you share?....Along with your all up weight, and engine combo?

Thanks to all - it sure LOOKS like a nice plane....(but then, so did the DP :(

Trying the GP Wagstaff Extra!!

What problems did you have with the DP Extra?

Bob Pastorello 10-05-2002 09:59 PM

DP "Problem" ??? Nahhh...

The only "problem" I had was piling it in, completely destroying it, and severely damaging my NEW Taurus T-52 in the process. I do this series of outside, reversing, knife-edge snaps on a horizontal line...one way, then the other....looks pretty cool...On Extra flight number 13 (yes, I won't count them ANYMORE), on the exit line following the last snap, pushed over, throttled back, and it began an unbelievable roll DURING the radius. At the moment I pushed from horizontal to vertical, SOMETHING went "pop", and the incredible roll started. I had throttle, elev, rudder, trying ailerons to no avail.

Fortunately, it only had to go about 75 or 80 feet vertical before the impact, but...the line/snaps was probably half throttle, then throttle back, push down...kinda a square corner....then BOOM.

It was pretty awful to walk up to..... :( :( :(

Yes, radio and ALL servos, gears, linkages FINE...receiver is now flying my newest pattern airplane perfectly...same switch harness. In fact, several of the servos are in it....not a problem whatsoever.

So the mystery continues.
