Tiger 60 Engine

I am building my new plane, an ARF Carl Godberg Tiger 60. I have an OS .91FX, can I use this engine in that plane? Have somebody used the OS .91FX in a Tiger 60?

Thanks

RE: Tiger 60 Engine

I have/had this plane with a Magnum 90 2 stroke and I will say that this plane was one fun plane. I am currently selling this to a member at my field. I also switched the landing gear to a tail dragger. I used a 14x6 prop and it would land at a slow walk while rocketing vertical into the clouds. Very strong airframe to handle the motor. Balancing was not really an issue, but be prepared to add a little weight to the tail if needed.

The 91FX will be a very very good combo ... use a 14x6 or even a 15x6. :)

I had planned to use the same engine in mine, but I kept the trike setup. With the trike setup, a 14" prop was pushing it as far as clearance on mine.

The Tiger 60 is a big airplane. With a .61 it will be fairly docile. It really peps up with a .91. The newer .91s, like the OS FX and the Magnum XLS, are build in a .61 case so they weigh the same, but put out more power. You can run your .91 on a 12-8, which will really turn up. It'll be like a fast turning .61. The people at Performance Specialties, who make the Ultra Thrust tuned mufflers, run OS .91FXs on 12-8 or 13-6 props at 14,000+ rpm so the engine will take it.

tiANci,

In fact this is a very good combo. Today I flew my Tiger 60 with the O.S. .91FX with a 14x6 prop. The combination was absolutely perfect. The plane flyes and lands perfect. This is a great plane.

Thanks,

[8D]Had a Tiger 60 several years ago with a .61 on it. Was definately mild. Think .91 two or four stroke would be great. Just remember that when inverted, down is up and up is expensive. Wish I had. Smoothest landing plane I ever had.
