replacement wheel pants...
Hey folks, I own a Kyosho Sensation 1400 ARF. The "discontinued" version that was on sale at Tower a while back. Great flying plane, but the fiberglass wheel pants have already started to crack badly. They seemed VERY lightweight out of the box and a I liberally coated the inside with thinned epoxy to keep them from cracking during installation, but it didn't help much as within 3 flights a substantial crack developed on one of the pants, and I've got spider cracks in the cowl. I will probably use some fiberglass cloth on the cowl, but I think I'm going to replace the pants. I'd rather fly this model with pants as without detracts quite a bit from the looks, but the Kyosho replacements are ridiculously expensive ($44). I may try pants from a Great Planes Venus (I have a GP UCD3D and the fiberglass seems more stout than the really thin Kyosho stuff). So a question to Venus owners, how are the wheel pants holding up on your models? Or should I get some other aftermarket pants? I'd also like to get some wheel pants that can accomodate larger wheels. I can stuff the stock 2.25" Kyosho wheels into the stock pants but nothing larger, but I'd prefer to use 2.75" or at least 2.5" wheels as I do fly off grass.
Thanks! |

f2,
Check with Stephen Weber @ Aeroglass. He is in Ontario and his quality is EXCELLENT. He doesn't have a website but his phone # is: 59-875-1533. I'll bet he has a pant that will work for you. We have been using his glass for the past 5 years and it holds up very well, no cracks or breakage except for the occasional crash damage. (We also fly off grass). Tell him we sent ya!
