Kyosho Sukoi ARF
This airplane was a general disappointment. First... It is very expensive $249.00 + tax. The control rod steel was very brittle and broke very easily when bending to fit in the wooden dowell. I gave up on using them and installed NyRods which involved cutting two hatches in the bottom of the fuse. I was really surprised at the thickness of the balsa in the rear 1/3 of the fuse. It appeared to be 3/8" thick. (Remember this. It gets worse.) Well I put all components in the airplane. JR radio & servos. Enya .50 engine.(A very heavy engine). Checked balance and it took 11oz of weight to get the balance at 97 mm. (Just try and fly it at more than 97mm and see what happens) Lateral balance took 1/4 oz of lead or she would snap real nasty. I flew it 12 times before the needle valve mount came unscrewed and with no power she was a brick in search of the ground. I expected a better flying and better quality airplane from Kyosho and was really disappointed. I sure learned some new flying skills from it.

I have one with an OS .91 Surpass. I mounted the servos in the tail. Balanced perfect without added weight. I added VG's to the wingtips.
It flies really well. The only complaint I have is the gear plate in the fuse promptly let go when I landed a little harder than normal. I haven't fixed it yet because I want some composite gear and I haven't gotten to it yet. Once I do, I think it will be a great flyer. I have flown it with full up/down and no snapping is appearant. I guess the only thing I may suggest is try to lighten it somehow. Mine is 5.5lbs and I cannot complain. Hope you do not abandon it before going light !! AcroFlyer |
