Suggestions for Great Planes

Based on the other thread (thank you, serge), why not let's do a POLL of "suggestions", and the GP folks can SEE what we'd like....whatcha say, guys??

Most have commented that they'd prefer the 27% range, usable with 40-50cc gassers, approx. 80" wings, thereabouts....that would be the size for this poll to suggest....although with the bipes, that gets a little complicated, and who KNOWS how much any of those things would cost?

Bob,
I was doing the same thing with I saw your email on the mailing list! You beat me to it by about 2 minutes! :(

I vote for a 27% to 30% Sukhoi.

I think it would be very important to post a price range also. If you look at their 1/4 scale planes, every time they come out with a new one, the price goes up. So we can hardly vote on a 1/3 scale anything unless you post a price range.

How about a desired weight range poll?
So far -most of these "27% models" are better suited as battering rams --

SuKoi kit, 90-120 size, under 11 lb so it can do double duty as a patter plane. To compete with the goldberg sukoi.

or a 40 or 60 size sukhoi kit- if that is the best they could do.

Here are my best wishes :

1- A 70 inches Blue Hawk Ultimate.

2-1/3 Scale Super Stearman.

3-1/3 scale Christen Eagle.

And at last: 1/3 scale Cap 232.

"battering ram" ???

Geez, Dick, you're KILLIN' us..... :)

Anyone watching KNOWs that *YOU* can build those incredibly-light and amazingly durable airframes with power loading factors that are miraculous....

But mere MORTALS = many of us who AREN'T very talented builders= must rely on someone else.

For their durability and design, I think most of us would agree the Great Planes ARF's aren't the typical "rubber duck" in ARF-land.

Unfair, you didnt include a GS Spitfire!!

Come on, lets be original here, the others have been done to death, let's puit something out with a WOW

Great Planes needs more large scale kits (35%). How about a big (104") Cap, Edge, Extra, Sukuhoi, and 35% Ultimate.

I must agree. A 1/4 scale spitfire would be very nice!

I say come out with another Great Plane!! :D

Pud 11-04-2002 12:10 AM

WHAT!! No Hiperbipe??!!!

Aw sheesh!
You guys just don't know what you're missing!!

We are talking about a Bipe that slows down to a walk for landing(ever see a full scale Pitts landing??...FAST!), is fully aerobatic, but can carry two people in comfort at a cool 150-160 mph cross country!

What this means as a "big" rc model, is a plane that will make a lot of guys very, very happy!!
Done right, it will be fast, slow, and aerobatic as all get out.

"Sigh".........oh well, I tried!!

What about a 74-80" katana. It's about the only aerobat that hasnt been done to death.

Sport_Pilot 11-04-2002 01:35 PM

Enough of those!

Nothing in the list looks good to me. My suggestions are.

.60 size pattern plane, this would include a Kaos or the old style Ultra Sport, but doesn't have to be.

.60 sized anything.

Another profile funfly plane maybe a profile bipe.

Kit of U Can Do 3D, only call it something else. Was considering the ARF but the name sounds like Do Key.
.
.60 size biplane ARF, maybe the old Sportster ARF?

Heck .60 sized anything, this is the largest sized plane I can fly without feeling nervous. Cause I am too cheap!

I would love to see a 1/4 or 1/3 scale super decathlon arf in the red and white trim scheme.

Hmm that Chippy could be nice!

But, how about;

An ME-109E, FW-190A4, P-51B, Spit, Hurricane, or....P-38 (contra-rotating of course!)!

There are hundreds of flippy things out there already (caps, edges, extras). A nice scale subject would surely be inviting to many. TWO-PIECE WINGS PLEASE!!!!!!!

Good God! aren't we sick and tired of Edges and Ultimates?

These have been done to death by other ARF manufactureres. Let's have something else. Anything else. Please.

I love the Ultimate (personally I hate Edges but hey, that's me) but there are plenty out there to choose from. If GP is listening to this poll then I hope they have enough sense to pick a subject that is a bit more interesting.

I'd love to see one of their GS warbirds as an ARF. There are too few of those around and would probably sell very well.

But this is just my opinion so what do I know

How about something original. I don't know... How about a giant ag plane profile for a 23cc? Cheap, easy, short nose and tail mounted servos to balance without added weight?
Or even a really ultra sport for a 60cc?

Tom

GREAT PLANES OPTION

In my opinion there is market for a good 1/4 scale EDGE to compete with Lanier ( need a 3d bird).

1/4 Katana is also good option.

Hmm...another interesting idea, a giant agwagon, not profile though.

Stop coming up with new ideas I will have to spend more money on!!!! :D

WARBIRD WARBIRD WARBIRD

Come on, there are enough 1/4 scale edges, caps and Sukoui,

Lets see a 1/4 scale Giant Scale Warbird --- Spitfire, Corsair, or how about a sweet sweet P38 Lightning, how does that sound.,

I am so so bored with yet another edge, or cap or Extra, Gentlemen ---- A little originality please

speaking of a agwagon--a good plane-kyosho's, i got 2. I flew one 10 foot off the ground inverted, they fly pretty good inverted. get one, but learn how to fly it first.
