control horn for pull-pull rudder

G'day,

Wasn't sure which forum to put this in, so here goes!

I am putting together a 40 sized plane with a pull-pull rudder set up. What are the options for the control horn on the rudder end?
Obviously i need a control horn on either side at the same spot, so the usual T style horn wouldn't really work.

Cheers. :)

The way I have solved this problem in the past is to use two of the regular control horns. Just put the second horn where the "backplate" would go and drive your screws through as usual. Now you have a setup for pull-pull.

Hope this helps.

Wildhare's use the following from the Hardware Kit.. It is simply a machine screw through the Rudder, snip the head off the bolt and secire it with two screws on either side.. Works great.. I wish I had better pics..

Here's a link to a Dubro pull-pull kit

It uses a fully threaded rod through the rudder with nuts on both sides to hold it in place.

Yep yep. I have used Dubro's pull-pull kit in several planes, always good results and the adjustment is great to boot.

To my original post above, if I had my druthers, I'd rather have the pull-pull kit. That said, the double control horn thingy works well and I used it when I didn't have a kit on hand (impatient me).

For a .40 size plane you can use the standard nylon horns, place back-to-back, and drill through all holes same size as clearance holes. Now you will have four holes through both horns. Use 2-56 screws that will go through the horns and thickness of rudder, and secure with some Nylock nuts or regular nuts with lock-tite. I like the Dubro horns, as they are a little sturdier than other brands of same size.
