Model Tech Magic 3D Ground Handling - Help Please
I'm used to taking off from a grass field and the tail wheel keeps things lined up well. From a paved runway however I can't seem to keep from going all over the place. I have successfully taken off with other taildrager models, but this thing is something else ..
Any suggestions would be greately appreciated. Thanks Tony |

use the rudder more.... thats about it... many just leave the tail wheel off and use a skid.....
heck....that thing can be in the air in about 3 feet.....;):D |

I have this plane with a Super Tigre G90 on the business end. Sounds like you may have to much throw in your rudder and your over controlling it. When you start to take off, just ease into the throttle and not all at once. I put a Sig spring leaf tailwheel on mine, I didn't like the tail skid that was supplied.

Are you holding up elevator until you get moving? That will create some drag on the skid and keep it going in more of a straight line.
Did you get so far out of shape that it started doing ground loops (spinning around like a buzz bomb!) yet? Ernie |

Tony, try an APC 11x3 also. That's what I have on my Uproar with the OS 32. It loves to hang on the prop with that.

When looking at the engine sizes you guys are talking about I'm a little confused on what plane you are really talking about. Do you mean the Model Tech Magic 300 or the Model Tech Magic Formula 3D??? The Magic 300 I ran an OS 50SX and on the Magic Formula 3D I have a Super Tigre G90 on the business end. Both planes are off the ground in less than 10 feet with a little head wind.

The is the origional plain old Magic Zippi. Mostly yellow and the high wing rubber bands on. Extremely light and low wing loading, a real floater 3D plane and will fly nice will even a 32.
