Elevator Bellcrank Setup
Has anyone seen an article, made pictures or would be willing to do a detail explanation or what it takes to use a bellcrank on the elevator for a 1/4 scale size plane vice using a Y or dual pushrod to a split elevator. What I am interested in, is how to install the bellcrank in the rear of the plane. thanks.

I think there were some pictures and a little discussion in the "Gee Bee Y" thread, I plan on using one on that bird when I get it.

Bell Crank
Central hobbies sells a bellcrank assembly that is very easy to install and works great. We have one on 3 of our planes.

Thanks guys, but I have all that. However, I have yet to find anyplace that actually discusses the install of the bellcrank. The only picture in the GB discussion is of the outside, it's an after-installation photo.

Dual Control Horn Install

Hi Splais - I'm building my first kit, a 4 star 60, and decided I wanted to add the dual bell crank because I didn't like the way the wire connected the two elevator halves and then ran off one control horn. I wish I could figure out how everyone inserts photo's, but I haven't yet. So, I will post 4 quick pictures. Two are of the rear before any mods, and the last two will be with the crank set in place only, not installed yet, that will come a little later. Hope these are what you wondering about.

OK - Pic #4 and the last one. If you look you'll see all I did was slot a hole through the last fuse former for the center horn to work through. I will glue the ply squares that came with the Horn, fill it in around the edges, and then sand it all down smooth. I used a golden rod to connect to the center horn to go up to the servo. I am building two connecting rods approx 6 > 6.5 inches long to go back to the elevator horns. I am then running the rudder with a pull-pull.
I will post another pic or two later if you want when I have it pretty well complete. |

Gregg, a few pics are worth pages. Thanks. It basically looks like you just have to put some support in likely places. a couple final pics will be great.

Look at the thread in the ARF forum for the Aerowork's .90 Edge 540T ARF. Aerosplat has a very detailed section on how he installed this device in his airplane. You may want to do a search to find it because the thread is enormous.

Hi Splais
Check towards the bottom of page 18 on the post Knife mentioned. I had a little time after lunch today to do a little search :stupid: Your right, that is a big post :D I did not go past 19, so there may be more hidden on the crank farther in.
