Nextar Kit - I need advice on Servo+Engine

I am about to order the Nextar kit (w/out radio and engine) and would like to know what folks are using for both. I am brand new to flying and my local club and instructor have suggested that I get this plane. I'd like to buy stuff that will last as I plan to be in this Hobby long enough to fly some larger planes - and perhaps Jets.

I plan to use my Futaba 14MZ radio and receiver in this plane - but need advise on what servo's I should buy. Will these work (futaba ball bearing http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXFMD5&P=M )- or should I get something better?

Also on the Engine - is the OS 46 good enough - or if I spend a few more bucks can I get a better engine that I would be able to use in my next plane?

Can't answer the servo question for you but the OS 46 is more than enough power for this plane (and it's a decent engine). It's also a great engine to throw into your next 40 ARF.

Thx poctosaras - it appears to be the std engine and I think it comes in the RTF kit.

If the servos [both links you posted are for the engine] are S3004 or S3001 they'll be fine. Virtually any "standard" servo, preferably with ball bearing, is good for a 40 or 60 size trainer.

Gotcha - I read that the tail servo should be a hi-torq - is this correct?

I flew the Nexstar ARF for most of a year with the 3003 servos that came with it- no problem. The 3004's are a step up, they have ball bearings.

High torque is really not necessary on a trainer as it is on a fully aerobatic plane. Rudder is not under as much stress as they are on those where the rudder is used a lot.
